Free Brian Conway Workshop — STIMS

November 7, 2026

Updated

Fairfield, Connecticut, United States

Join Brian Conway on Saturday, November 7, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm for a free workshop, sponsored by the Gerry Herman Memorial Fund. Registration is required through the organiser’s free registration link.

The workshop explores the New York Sligo style, including forgotten and overlooked tunes from its master musicians. Fiddle technique is a focus, but players of all instruments are welcome.

Conway is a leading interpreter and teacher of the ornamented Sligo fiddle tradition associated with Michael Coleman. He won two All-Ireland junior titles and the senior championship in 1986. His early teachers included his father Jim Conway and Martin Mulvihill, with Martin Wynne providing a formative connection to the County Sligo style.

His students have achieved local, regional and All-Ireland success. This workshop offers a chance to explore the music through both listening and practical study.

Admission is free. The concert ticket prices below do not apply to this workshop. The half-hour early doors policy below is published for concerts; confirm workshop access arrangements with STIMS.

Register for free.

Presented by Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society (STIMS).
